Port Jeff set to go green
June 8, 2013 by James
Jefferson, New York will be hosting the fifth annual Port Jeff Green Fest next weekend. The event will feature a Farmers Market section, Green Market shopping, eco-friendly presenters and exhibitors, and even live entertainment.
Green Fest is aimed at promoting the ‘Green Movement’, and it hopes to educate people about such matters as sustainable energy, renewable food sources, and other ways to live in ways that are friendlier to the environment. The speakers, sponsors, and vendors will be focusing on subjects like the use of alternative energy sources, such as wind turbines or solar panels, or the importance of developing more hybrid and other alternative energy based cars. Proceeds from the event will go to the Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce with the intent of funding future Green events.
Shoppers will be able to buy organic food and other Green products from a variety of different vendors. They will also be treated to entertainment from local musicians like Rorie Kelly and To Calmer Seas. Additionally, there will be live demonstrations by Tribal Wind Arts about creating crafts and animal exhibits by Jungle Bob.
Printing companies can be of great help to festival organizers. Brochure printers in particular might be needed for this event, which is sure to be an exciting one for anyone on Long Island, be they in towns like Setauket, near Port Jefferson, or farther afield in places like Huntington.
It is free to attend, and it runs during the afternoon from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on June 15.
