Scaly beasts to be bought in Melville

Creeping, crawling, and slithering animals will be going on display this weekend at the Long Island Reptile Expo. Attendees will be able to purchase reptilian animals, as well as habitats and reptile housing equipment.

Over 115 vendors will be on hand, selling different kinds of snakes, amphibians, reptiles, and arachnids that can be kept as pets. Terrarium and cage vendors will be there as well. However, unlike when buying these creatures at a store, vendors will be selling them at discount rates. Buyers will be able to save up to 50% of what they would normally spend, according to the event’s website.

The event is hosted by Animal Encounters, LLC, which sponsors similar events in Upstate New York and New England. When organizing events, the firms like this one often reach out to printing companies to help them advertise. Flyers and promotional posters are ideal for informing people about an event, and postcards can connect with people on a mailing list to remind them about events.

The expo will be held this Sunday, October 13, at the Huntington Hilton Hotel in Melville, New York. It is within easy driving distance of towns like Syosset and Hicksville, and there is free parking at the event as well. A $9 admission fee applies for adults, and a $4 admission fee is payable for children between the ages of 7 and 12. The admission fee can only be paid in cash, though some of the vendors do accept credit cards.
