Greek end to week in Hicksville
September 2, 2012 by Mark
It will not be long now until the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Hicksville, New York will be hosting its annual Greek Festival for the 36th time.
The church has been part of the Hicksville community since October 21, 1977, when it received its charter and the festival is always a fun occasion for everybody in attendance.
The festival will feature performances by the Hellenic Dancers of Holy Trinity and live Bouzouki music bands. Cafenio and Go-Greek Boutique will also be there. Guests are welcome to eat at the Taverna-in-the-Tent, which will be serving authentic Greek food such as gyros, souvlaki, moussaka, spinach pies, shish-kabob, and Greek salad.
The event will be held outdoors on the Parish Fairgrounds and begins on Friday, September 7, at 5:00 pm and runs until 11:00 pm that night. The festival continues on Saturday and Sunday running from noon until 11:00 pm on both days. Admission to the event is free, and there will be parking areas at The National Grid on New South Road and Cablevision at 111 Stewart Avenue. Shuttle buses will bring guests from those areas to the church.
Printing companies will no doubt be working to create flyers for the church in order to promote this event. Residents of Hicksville will want to know that it is going on and people from other nearby towns may be interested in attending as well. Banner printers may also be called on to create banners for those who are driving and need to be able to find the parking areas for their cars.
