Country the key to weekend fun
October 2, 2012 by James
Long Island’s Country Fest is well on its way. This weekend, Freeport, New York will be flooded with country music enthusiasts. The event will take place at the Catalina Sea Park on Freeport’s Nautical Mile and costs $10 for admission.
The festival will have BBQ and country food served by vendors all day long on both days. There will also be crafts and gift vendors on site, selling all manner of unique goodies. For those who have to entertain children, there will also be a Kids’ Corral, featuring a petting zoo as well as pony rides. It also has face painting and temporary airbrush tattoos for those who want to decorate themselves. With pumpkin decorating also on offer, the first 250 kids will receive a pumpkin for free.
All this is before we have come to the music. From 10:00 am to noon on both days, 96.1 Country Radio will be kicking things off, and bands and artists will perform on stage throughout. Jillian Rae, a 15-year-old hit country singer, will perform following the Country Radio opening on both days. On Saturday, she will be followed by Southbound, Mary Lamont, Rattlesnake Dawn, and The Grand Central. On Sunday, the Roadhouse Band, Walking The Line, Defibulators, and SixGun will take care of the musical entertainment.
With bags of fun to be had on both October 6 and 7, Freeport is only a short drive from Hempstead, Massapequa, and Hicksville. There is little doubt that printing companies will be hard at work creating flyers and other promotional materials to bring crowds to this event.
