Senior Centre to showcase relaxing music

December 9, 2012 by

‘Music for Sunday Afternoon Pleasure’ is on its way this week and is being presented at the Five Towns Senior Center. Sponsored by John and Florence Lawrence Music Series, the program will provide guests with a wonderful relaxing day of music by famous composers like Franz Liszt, Isaac Albeniz, and many others.

Pianist Ellen Johnson, will be performing many variations of well-loved pieces including Mendelssohn’s ‘Variations Serieus’, Franz Liszt’s ‘Un Sospiro’, Claude Debussy’s ‘Selection of Preludes’, and Isaac Albeniz’ ‘Book 2 of the Iberian Suite’. Johnson has performed many piano concerts in Long Island and New York and most recently performed in East Hampton for a Japan Recovery Fundraiser, and at Hofstra University, where she studied under Blanche Abram for many years. An esteemed piano teacher and an accomplished pianist, Johnson frequently speaks and lectures at the Piano Teachers’ Association on many topics. Guests will enjoy this wonderful performance and will have a chance to chat with Ellen after the performance.

The Five Towns Senior Center may have used flyer printing and other printing services to promote this event to members of the community. This is a free event and everyone is invited to attend. Music for Sunday Afternoon Pleasure will – despite its name – be held this Tuesday, December 11, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Five Towns Senior Center located at 37 East Rockaway Road in Hewlett, New York. To reserve a seat, please call the Five Towns Senior Center during business hours at 516-374-4747.
