Nassau County residents can do some shopping on Labor Day weekend
August 21, 2013 by Sarah
Bargain hunters living in Glen Cove and the surrounding area are gearing up for a Labor Day spending spree.
Labor Day often signifies the end of summer, although it officially does not end until later in the month of September. However, for many it is the day before school begins for a new year. Nassau County residents can enjoy a couple of fairs on that weekend and maybe even do some last minute back-to-school shopping.
The 8th annual Ronkonkoma Labor Day Street Fair will be held on the Sunday of the weekend. It is presented by the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce and will feature a variety of vendors, musical entertainment, a live DJ, children’s carnival rides, food and raffles. Vendors can rent a 10×10 foot space for $84.25 for Chamber members and $134.25 for non-members.
The 6th annual Nassau County Craft and Gift Fair will take place over the two days. It will feature several vendors who will be selling items such as handmade jewelry, home decorations, glass, food and clothing. Rental fees for vendor booths are $150 for both days or $100 for one day.
Several visitors will probably make the short trip from nearby communities to attend these fairs. The organizers of both events have probably invested in such services as flyer or poster printing to advertise throughout the community.
The Ronkonkoma Labor Day Street Fair will take place on Hawkins Avenue on September 1 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free. For more information call 631-963-2796.
The Nassau County Craft and Gift Fair will take place at Eisenhower Park from August 31 to September 1 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM each day. Call 516-442-6000 for more information.
