Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a parade

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated all over the world on March 17 and the United States has some of the biggest parades in celebration of Irish culture. One of the most popular St. Patrick’s Day parades in Long Island is the Glen Cove Parade.

The parade, which is presented by the Glen Cove Hibernians, attracts people from all over the area and is the largest parade held in Glen Cove annually. This year’s grand marshal will be Daniel J. Lane, an Irish activist.

The parade will feature police color guards, a police mounted unit, Irish dance groups, school groups, floats, vehicles, marching bands, the American Legion, Irish cultural groups, a pipe and drum band, and local government officials. The parade will run from the Robert M. Finley Middle School to St. Patrick’s Church. It sounds like it will be a great family-friendly way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and those of Irish heritage in and around Glen Cove.

Local businesses are encouraged to sponsor this yearly event and sponsorships are available from $250 to $1,000. All sponsors will be recognized with either banners held by parade participants or signs on the reviewing stand. No doubt Glen Cove printing companies will be called upon to provide the sign and banner printing services necessary, as people look to make their banners stand out.

The 25th annual Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on March 17 from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm.
