New kind of business event comes close to Forest Hills

Forest Hills entrepreneurs should set a date aside at the end of August, as The Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) will be hosting a ‘Back to Business’ party at the Z Rooftop located at the Z Hotel in Long Island City .

Described as a ‘mixer/press’ gathering, the QEDC plans to unveil its fall programming – an eclectic mix of contest, workshops, training seminars, and consultations that all share a common goal. From the StartUP! Business Plan Competition to the 10-week Entrepreneurial Assistance Program, QEDC makes it clear the goal is to encourage and support new business development in Queens.

A thriving entrepreneur class is the lifeblood of a healthy economy, regardless of neighborhood, borough, region, or state. From the college student with a clever concept for a better software app to produce digital business cards , to the retired teacher interested in starting a chess-and-chocolate bar that caters grade-schoolers, nurturing new start-ups is the enthusiastic mission of QEDC.

On its website, the QEDC lists three reasons for attending the Z Rooftop event, which are the prominence of networking opportunities, advice on fresh initiative, and the fantastic Manhattan skyline view available to attendees.

Another motivation to attend is the cost – it is free of charge to attend. The fun starts at 6:30 pm on August 27 and continues until 9:00 pm. The Z Hotel is located at 11-01 43rd Ave., Long Island City, less than fifteen minutes from the heart of Forest Hills.
