New African flavor to come to the area

‘Africa Now’ is being presented in collaboration with the Apollo Theatre and the World Music Institute and is a weekend festival that highlights today’s music scene in the continent.

This festival has an outstanding lineup of artists from the global music scene that have drawn on their roots and transplanted them in today’s musical world. Poster printing may have been the method chosen to spread the word about this unique and entertaining music festival to residents in this region.

This is a great family event and will feature a stunningly attractive concert to be hosted by Marcus Samuelsson – a celebrity chef. The main stage will present the revolutionary Gharnaian star of hip-hop, Blitz the Ambassador, Freshlyground, and renowned international singer, Lokua Kanza, as well as Nneka, a hip-hop Nigerian songstress. During this event, there will be a meet-and-greet with the artist panel participating in the event to discuss the artists’ cultural identities and unique and interesting brand of traditional music. The Soil, a dynamic and entertaining South African act, will be spotlighted during the festival as well.

Tickets for this festival vary depending on which selections are chosen. Africa Now will be occurring on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 between 11:00 am and 10:00 pm at the Apollo Theatre located at 253 West 125th Street in New York City, just down the road from Forest Hills, New York. To view the performance schedule or check ticket prices, please visit the Apollo Theatre website or call its box office during business hours.
