Upcoming run hoping for Flushing success

Panera Bread is the sponsor for the Run 5K fitness Fun Run/Walk taking place in Flushing, New York in October.
The event promotes community health and fitness with participants having the opportunity to support SHARE Cancer Support in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. SHARE provides aid for research, and along with helping patients fighting cancer, deals with their health issues. Donations are accepted online as well.
The race course will start at the Unisphere near the lake area and finish in the Flushing Meadows Park in Queens. A children’s short run will take place after the 5K race and will be open for runners of 12 years old and younger. The fee for children’s registration is just $5, with each child receiving a token prize.
For the adult race, awards will be given at the conclusion to the top three finishing runners by male and female categories and age groups.
The race takes place on October 5. Race bibs will be distributed with the bib numbers on them on the morning of the run from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. Race day registration fee is $25.00. The race will begin promptly at 9:00 am.
At races like this, banners are typically placed along the race route to guide the runners in the correct direction, so a local print company will probably be contacted as preparations get underway.
The first 200 people registering will receive a T-shirt, and all participants will be given a goodie bag including Panera Bread’s special pink ribbon treats. For more information, visit the event’s website.
