Fairport to give gift of blood
February 1, 2013 by Sarah
Fairport High School will be host to an American Red Cross blood drive next week in its cafeteria, with donors standing a chance of winning a prize.
With the constant need and urgency for blood, drives of this type are critical to maintain community blood supplies in the event of emergencies. Donors are encouraged to eat a good meal prior to donating and drink an ample amount of fluids. Identification is required at time of donation.
Participating blood donors will be eligible for entry in a contest to win a $50 gift card valid at local movie theaters. Those who have not donated blood since December 7, 2012 may donate again at this time.
Appointments are recommended and can be made on the Red Cross website. There is also a quick response (QR) code online that can be scanned via smartphone technology to reserve an appointment. While walk-ins are welcome, to expedite the process, reservations are suggested.
Charities often use printing services from local print companies to prepare communication materials to promote the drive. Poster printing has proven to be a highly effective method for marketing events within the community. Posters can be printed in full color or black and white on one side and mounted against a flat surface such as a wall, door, pillar, or window. Well-designed posters attract the attention quickly of people passing by and generate interest in the content.
Taking place on Tuesday, February 5, from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The Red Cross has more information online via their website. Additional questions or comments can be directed to the entity by calling 1-800-Red Cross.
