Arts and crafts and fundraising herald the holidays

Christmas is getting close, and those who have not decided what gifts to give can create a one of a kind gift on this weekend at the Huntington Free Library, 9 Westchester Square in the Bronx.
Only 24 minutes from Elmsford, this is a chance to spend quality family time and pick up a last minute gift. The workshop begins at 12:30 pm on Saturday, December 21.
Once the big day has passed, locals can take a break from holiday shopping and attend the Storytellers in Fashion event at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, at the Farafina Café & Lounge, 1813 Amsterdam Avenue in New York.
Hosted by 54 Kingdoms, this showcase highlights the inspirational stories behind the different Kingdom designs. A live band will provide entertainment on the day as well.
Guests at the showcase include spoken word artist Imperial Mandela Rose, comedian NaMo, and singer and songwriter Anita Fearon. Proceeds from the event will support the efforts of African Youth Excellence.
Also on December 28 at 7:00 pm is a fundraiser for the arts. The Jewels for a Cause Project fundraiser will be held at Da Urban Butterflies, 563 West 183rd Street, New York.
The program gives youth the opportunity to create artwork to be showcased at a public display in March. The goal is to help young people overcome the obstacles in their lives and increase their self-esteem. Postcard printing is an economical way to let donors know of worthy events.
