Happenings on Main Street continues strong

In light of all that has gone into ‘Happenings on Main Street’, as well as the Northport Library’s planned events, East Northport residents have at least two interesting activities from which to choose.

If the advertisements are anything to go by, printing companies in particular are going to be active with Happenings on Main Street once again demonstrating how it has managed to stay popular for more than a decade. As far as community events go, the Northport Arts Coalition seems to have hit the right spot in its hosting of this ongoing concert series. Having begun in late May and wrapping up at the end of August, however, music lovers will have only a few more opportunities to attend this year.

Being held regularly at the Northport Village Patio, the first of five showings for this month was held last Friday, August 3, while the rest of the schedule shows that there will be performances on August 10, 17, 24, and 31. Jazz, blues, pop, bluegrass, and folk music are just some of styles to be spotlighted during Happenings on Main Street.

Right around the middle of the month, the Northport-East Northport Public Library will be bringing a little bit of international flavor to the community with At the Library holding the “Caribbean Steel Drum Jamboree” on August 15. Beginning in the evening at 7:30 pm, the community is being invited to stop by the Northport branch for an evening of authentic Caribbean music.

Since both events are free to attend, it is clear that residents will have options this August.
