This weekend is family fun time with some slam-dunking during the Hoops Day New York.

Scheduled events for the Sunday, October 27 event include a wheelchair basketball clinic at 10:00 am, a three-on-three tournament at 11:00 am, and an exhibition game at 1:00 pm.

The event will be held at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, 75 Colonial Springs Road in Wheatley Heights, which is just over a 20-minute drive from East Northport.

Elsewhere in the region, the producers of Insanity, P90X and TurboFire will hold a Team Beachbody Open House at 4:30 pm on the very same day at The Vamps Club, 1500 Newbridge Road in Bellmore.

The highlight of the event will be a group workout featuring the fitness program, Focus T25. Participants should bring workout clothes, water, and a small towel along with a non-perishable healthy food item that will be donated to Island Harvest.

Everyone who attends will receive a raffle ticket for prizes. Life changing stories will be shared by coaches and team members. Raffle tickets and admission tickets can all be printed with the assistance of a local printing company.

It’s also costume time when the Northport Chamber of Commerce holds its 13th annual Halloween Hayride in the Northport Village Park from noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 27.

The costume contest begins at 2:00 pm and prizes include four tickets to the John Engeman Children’s Theater for first place, $40 Northport dollars for second place, and $20 Northport dollars for third place.
