November gets off to theatrical start

Deer Park residents have a range of theater options from which to on the first day of November, ranging from comedy to musicals, no doubt keeping local poster printing companies busy.

For starters, award-winning star of stage and screen, Tony Lo Bianco¸ will appear in ‘The Little Flower’ on Friday, November 1, at the Cinema Arts Centre.

‘The Little Flower’ is the comedic and inspirational one man show about Fiorello H. LaGuardia’s last day as Mayor in 1945. Set in his City Hall office, LaGuardia was a flamboyant mayor who raised the standard for politicians everywhere.

The show begins at 7:00 pm at the center, 423 Park Avenue in Huntington, just 20 minutes from Deer Park.

Also, the Upper Room Main Theatre in Dix Hills will feature the good versus evil musical, ‘Revelation’ at 7:30 pm on the same evening.

The musical covers the fall of the angels up to the life of Tyler Vaughn in present day. With catchy tunes and knock out finale, this musical is recommended for ages 10 and up. The theatre is located at 722 Deer Park Road in Dix Hills.

Finally, Neil Simon’s ‘Jake’s Women’ will be presented by the South Shore Theatre Experience beginning at 8:00 pm on Friday, November 1.

This is a semi-autobiographical play about a novelist named Jake who would rather live in a fantasy world than real life. His fantasy flashbacks are frequently interrupted by the real women in his life. The theatre is located at 350 Higbie Lane in West Islip.
