The Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, near Deer Park, is the site for the screening of the Academy Award-winning movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ this weekend

The event will include a silent art auction after the film, and a free raffle ticket will be given out with each bid. Proceeds will benefit the Sphoorti – a children’s home in Hyderabad India which teaches an arts-based education to children to encourage both their intellectual and emotional growth.

On display at the event will be art work from some of the top artists in Long Island and New York City. Dinner will include food from Kiran Palace, Compari, Copper Wok, and Perfecto Mundo. Headlining the event is Indro Roy-Chowdhury, an internationally acclaimed sitarist, who will be accompanied by virtuoso tabla player Nitin Mitta.

The showing of the film begins at 5:30 pm on Sunday, July 28. For more information, contact Anu Annam at (631) 838-7020.

On the same day, it will be time for the Great Gatsby Boat Tour, which leaves shore at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 28, from 423 Park Avenue, Huntington.

Inspired by the recent movie, guests can cruise the bay that set the scene for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel. This will be a two-hour tour that includes views of the bay and a discussion on the Roaring Twenties on Long Island.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $12.50 for children. Postcard printing is an excellent and economical way to let residents and patrons know of upcoming events of this nature.
