Manor gets merry this weekend
December 5, 2013 by Max
In a couple of days, residents of Bay Shore, as well as those in nearby Central Islip, will be invited to learn about the history of carols while visiting an important historical manor.
Sagtikos Manor Historical Society is presenting a Sagtikos Manor Holiday House Tour. Each room on the first floor of the building is decorated in a Christmas Carol theme. Docents will be available to present a brief narrative about the room. In the process, visitors will learn more about the history of carols, and will also be able to see architectural styles and decor from the 1600s to the mid-1900s.
After the tour, there will be hot beverages and cookies to enjoy. With seasonal green decorations for sale and holiday inspired items from the gift shop, it will be a chance for people to get into the festive spirit.
Organizers of this event may ask printing companies to provide flyers to advertise the Manor House tour. The event itself may also be a good time for the historical society to pass out brochures and possibly attract more visitors in the future.
The holiday tour will take place on December 7 and 8. Beginning at 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, tours will leave every 15 minutes. Admission is $25 for adults and $5 for children.
Sagtikos Manor has a rich history that dates back to over three centuries ago, and the historical society is dedicated to preserving. The manor is located at Montauk Highway and Manor Lane in Bay Shore.
