North Arlington rolls into November with sporty tryouts
October 31, 2013 by Max
In a month’s time, Garden State RollerGirls 2014 RollerGirl Tryouts will provide anyone who has ever dreamed of being a RollerGirl the opportunity to come out and try out for the team. This is a great chance for girls to strut their stuff, and November will probably see poster printing take place to promote it.
This is an all-star New Jersey, known as the Garden State, flat-track roller derby team and league, as well as a proud member for the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). This league was created in 2001 and is a skater owned and operated organization. It consists of 40 skaters, a number of officials, and many volunteers who participate in the GSR each season.
Those who wish to try out must supply their own quad skates, mouth guard, helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, and other protective equipment, although the team does have a limited supply of donated items that can be borrowed should they require them.
The cost to participate in these tryouts is $40 per person, and they will be held on Saturday, November 30, although several boot camps will be held prior for those who feel they need the practice, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the ISCA Inline Skate Club located at 170 Schuyler Avenue in North Arlington, New Jersey.
