Manalapan arts council announces annual photo contest
March 8, 2013 by Sarah
The Manalapan Arts Council recently announced that it will be holding its fifth annual township photo contest.
Every year, the contest has had a theme and the one for this year is ‘Making Memories’. This means that pictures should be of a trip, an event, a gathering, a reunion, of some kind or a moment that was special to the photographer. Those wanting to really give their photo a professional touch could consider enlisting the help of a local printing company.
Susan Cohen, Mayor of the town, has encouraged as many residents as possible to submit photographs. These should also include a short caption that describes what the memory meant to the photographer.
Those who submit photographs must be residents of the town and only one photograph can be submitted per person. The photograph can be submitted by email or dropped off at the Manalapan Township Health Department by May 10. Each photograph should be accompanied by a description of the memory that the image has for the photographer and by the requisite submission form.
Categories for awards in the contest are based on age, with one group being for those under 12 years old, the next group for those between 12 and 17 years old, and the final group for snappers of 18 years of age and older. There will also be a special ‘People’s Choice’ award for the photograph that gets the most votes from the public when all the photographs are displayed on Manalapan Day, June 15.
