August 5, 2013 by Mark
‘National Night Out’ will be held in Manalapan tomorrow evening, and no doubt the Manalapan Police and Target, who are the hosts of the event, have been using flyer printing and poster printing to let the residents of the township become aware of the event and what it entails.
Attractions of this year’s event will include the emergency services of Manalapan Township, a helicopter landing, the ‘Viper’ monster truck, face painting, inflatable rides for kids, various giveaways, clowns, Target staff and Manalapan police offices in a dunk tank, and various community groups with information on crime prevention.
The Police K-9, fire department extrication and repelling demonstrations, and Fusion Marital Arts will also be on hand. In addition, free food of hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages will be made available and Ray Rossi from New Jersey 101.5 FM radio will be providing live entertainment.
An event held every year throughout the country, National Night Out is designed to increase awareness of drug and crime prevention in communities and urge people to support and participate in their local anti-crime programs. Another of its goals is to increase partnerships between local neighborhoods and the police departments so to improve the awareness of crime prevention and alert criminals that neighborhoods are working with the police to fight crime.
Last year, over 15,000 communities from the 50 United States and the United States territories participated in the event. This year’s event will run from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Target inside the Epicentre Shopping Plaza.
