Beat the bullies with confidence class
September 26, 2012 by Sarah
A program will be launched this Friday with the goal of stopping bullying by reaching out and equipping children with the necessary knowledge and equipment to thwart bullies in their tracks.
As part of the SAVE program, the focus of ‘Bully Proof Your Child’ is on the big three ‘A’s – Action, Awareness, and Avoidance. The group addresses the correct presentation and posture using martial arts to deter bullies. This special session runs for 10 modules, with each one consisting of different tasks and goals. Children attending this will gain confidence and understand what is required to protect themselves if difficult situations cannot be avoided.
Phil Ross, an 8th Degree Black Belt and competitor back in the 70s, has been offering this instructional class at the Martial Arts and Fitness Academy for many years. He developed this system from the ground up using experience gathered as a competitive artist. His martial arts training in the SAVE program teaches children how to be aware of what is going on around them, how to avoid confrontation where possible, and what action they can take to put a halt to the confrontation.
Flyer printing and poster printing may have been used to notify parents and children about this special program, which is taking place this Friday, September 28, at 5:30 pm at American Eagle Martial Arts Academy located at 500 Barnett Place in Hohokus, New Jersey.
