Highland Park cooks up its Christmas Dinner

November 15, 2013 by

The Borough of Highland Park will be serving its traditional Christmas Dinner again this year, at which diners can expect festive favorites like mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, salad, pumpkin and apple pies, turkey, and stuffing.

Farrington Pond will provide live music and Santa will appear distributing gifts for everyone. All are invited but guests are encouraged to call the Department of Community Services for reservations before 4:00 pm on December 23.

The Department will also be accepting donated items such as red tablecloths, drinking cups, holiday napkins, local gift certificates and gift cards, cutlery, and a wait range of Christmas foods, the complete rundown of which is on the Borough of Highland Park website and their phone number is 732-819-0052.

Of course, volunteers will be needed as well, for serving, cooking, cleaning, and entertainment. The organizers have divided the time into two hour shifts starting at 10:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm, so people interested in helping out in either shift can sign up by notifying the Department of Community Services at the number above.

This event is a golden opportunity for local printing companies to give a helping hand to their local community either by donating time or carrying out flyer printing for advertising purposes. Checks are to be made out to ‘Borough of Highland Park’ with a Holiday Dinner notation.

The dinner will be held on Christmas Day, December 25, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Highland Park Senior/Youth Recreation Center, 220 South 6th Avenue, Highland Park.
