August 6, 2013 by Sarah
Mainstreet Highland Park, a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to the protection, preservation, and enhancement of the downtown area of Highland Park, is in the midst of planning its ninth annual Arts in the Park Arts Festival street-fair.
The purpose of this family-friendly event is to showcase regional artists’ crafts and fine arts, and to offer the residents of Highland Park a chance to both enjoy and purchase original works of art. The festival’s highlight is the juried show, which will have cash awards for top three finishers in the divisions of Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Fine Crafts, Printmaking /Graphics/Drawing, and found/recycled ‘Green’ art.
Promotional booths in the Art Expo area will be available, as will children’s activities, live music by local musicians, and food vendors. Those involved will want no doubt want to register as soon as possible so they can get banner printing and poster printing done in time for the event. Artists, musicians and food vendors will need to get applications returned by September 3 to be listed on the festival’s website. To get applications and more information about the event, contact James McCrone at 732-828-8444.
The event will be held on Sunday, September 29, from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, at Main Street Highland Park, on Route 27 Raritan Avenue. As in past years, traffic will not be allowed on Raritan Avenue while the event is being held, due to the high number of pedestrians expected.
