Just 30 minutes from Ewing is the historic estate of Cairnwood in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania.

This 117-year-old mansion will be decorated with holiday lights and décor for the entertainment of visitors at 7:30 pm this Thursday, December 13.

On display will be an exhibit of antique gowns once worn by Gertrude Pitcairn – a former resident of the home. Other entertainment will include live holiday music by jazz musicians and holiday desserts.

Self-guided tours will allow visitors to view all three of the mansion’s floors, as well as the tower and the servants’ quarters. The highlight will be a two-story Christmas tree in the great hall covered in 2,000 lights and sugared fruit.

This event only happens once a year, so is not to be missed. Admission is $20 and $5 for preferred parking. For more information, call (215) 947-2004.

In nearby Bristol, Winter Musicale 2012 will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, December 13 at the Bristol Riverside Theatre. Keith Baker and the BRT Band will perform holiday favorites and classics during this concert. Tickets are $35 and $10 for students with ID. For more information, call (215) 785-0100.

This weekend, the 5th annual ‘A Very Town and Country Christmas’ will be held at 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 15, at the James-Lorah House in Doylestown.

Presented by the Town and Country Players, this show will also present Christmas songs for the whole family to enjoy. Tickets are $15 and this may be another one that calls for some flyer printing for promotional purposes this week.
