The Phyllis Noar Puppetry Festival will present three family friendly events at the East Brunswick Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center this month.
First up is Wonderspark Puppets presenting ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ tomorrow, February 10. This show is geared towards children of ages 2 – 6 years. There will be two showings: 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
The following Sunday, February 17, marks the arrival of the Lunar New Year Celebration from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. Activities include dance and music performances, Chinese yo-yo and martial arts demonstrations, crafts, refreshments, and a dragon dance. This event celebrates the arrival of the Chinese Year of the Snake.
The festival ends with the presentation of ‘The Reluctant Dragon’ at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 24, by the Lionheart Puppets. This show is geared to children aged 4 – 11 years and tells the tale of a young boy who must convince his village that the dragon is a friendly one.
All tickets are $4 and may be purchased at the library circulation desk. For more information on these events call (732) 390-6767. Many print companies offer self-publishing services. For a fun family activity, adults and teacher could encourage kids to write their own stories using family members and publish them into their own book to share with family and friends.
On a different note, kids in third grade and higher are welcome at the Kids Arcade event from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Saturday February 23.
