Local workshop teaches the giving game

It is almost time for the Annual Giving Workshop, which will be held later this week at the New York University, 25 West 4th Street, New York, less than an hour from East Brunswick.

For anyone who heads a nonprofit or plans on making donations to one, the founder of the Annual Giving Network, Dan Allenby, will talk about the current trends in giving and the results of a survey of more than 200 program leaders who give annually.

Also speaking will be Paul Barry, who is a national expert in the field of direct mail fundraising and president of the Perrone Group. He will provide examples of techniques and offer tips on ways to help organizations get better fundraising results.

It takes place from 8:30 am to noon on Thursday, August 22. For more information, call (781) 540-9310. Digital business cards can help nonprofits to stay in touch with donor companies each year.

Events planners are unlikely to want to miss the PYM LIVE event taking place at 9:00 am this Thursday at Omni Bershire Place, 21 East 52nd Street in New York.

This event is an opportunity for professional planners to network and pick up ideas to further their business. Industry leaders will be available to answer questions and the latest technology and trade show information will be available to try out.

Tours of the Omni Berkshire Place will be held at 12:30 pm. Attendees are asked to bring unused soaps and other sanitary donations for Clean the World, an organization helping people who need proper sanitation.
