Denville looks forward to history
October 4, 2013 by Mark
Denville residents looking for something different to do, and an excuse to check out the autumn leaves, need to set next weekend aside on their calendar.
From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on that Saturday and noon to 4:00 pm that Sunday, ‘The Pathways of History: A Museum Tour’ takes place.
This is the 4th annual History Tour, and 19 separate sites are participating this year. The Drakesville Historic Park’s museums in Ledgewood will be included for the first time. A Living History Day will occur on Sunday, October 13, for which the theme will be ‘It’s All About Iron’. Highlighted will be historic ties of our region with the iron industry.
With so many sites and so much to see, it is fortunate that a variety of brochures are available to order in advance. Families can plan their trips to suit the ages of their children, to take advantage of the most scenic route, or to include lunch at their favorite eatery. For those sites that, due to time restraints, cannot be included on that Saturday or Sunday, information provided by brochure printers may lead to a visit at a later date.
A special exhibit or event tied to the area’s history and community will be included at each museum and admission is free to all the venues on the tour. Patrons can begin the tour at any locations, proceed at their own pace, and, with the help of event brochures plan, an itinerary that best suits their interest. More information can be obtained at the event’s website.
