All smiles as Denville dentists play their part

November 4, 2013 by

In an attempt to help parents separate their children from their excess candy, while simultaneously supporting our troops, Diamond Spring Dental Associates is hosting a candy buy back.

The idea of the Halloween Candy Buy Back has three focal points: it will help parents limit the amount how much candy their children consume, benefit our troops, and re-enforce the importance of preventive dental care.

Later today (November 4), children (accompanied by an adult) can bring in unopened candy to Diamond Spring Dental Associates in Denville between the hours of 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Children will be encouraged to include letters to our troops with their candy. In exchange for their donations, the children will receive a dental “goodie bag” containing, among other things, a toothbrush, dental floss, and toothpaste. Diamond Dental will also match candy gifts with dental supplies for the troops.

The candy will be sent via Operation Gratitude, which is responsible for sending more than 100,000 care packages. The packages contain a variety of items such as snacks, letters of appreciation to individually named service members, and personal care or entertainment items. The mission of Operation Gratitude is to lift the morale of service workers while providing a way for Americans to show appreciation.

Diamond Spring Dental Associates joins the many retailers who accept donations on behalf of the troops. Often, stores have a barrel for these items, usually by the register, and have their local print company run off a flyer printing that announces a special deal on items for Operations Gratitude.
