Science fiction, fantasy, and horror come together in New Jersey

October 29, 2013 by

The 77th annual Philcon is set to take place over three days next month in Cherry Hill, making up one of the biggest science fiction, fantasy and horror conferences in the area.

The conference will feature several writers and artists working in the genre, such as Allen Steele and Charles Vess. A costume ball and masquerade is planned for the three-day conference, as are gaming tournaments, discussion panels and workshops, and a young writers’ contest for those in grades 5 through 12. A writing workshop will be taught by professional penmen for those who want to improve their skills, and an arts show is also taking place during the conference.

Vendors will be selling items such as comic books, DVDs, games, and action figures. Booths are available for rent from $50 to $140. Vendors and visitors are likely to be coming to the conference from all over the area, including nearby Berlin. Print companies are bound to be helping them prepare by providing such services as sign and banner printing to draw attention to the booths. They are probably also providing the souvenir program and marketing products such as flyers to the organizers.

Philcon is taking place at the Cherry Hill Crowne Plaza from November 8 – 10. Tickets for all three days are $50 for adults, $25 for students and active military, $20 for teens, and $10 for children. To find out more about the event, visit the official website.
