Local fruits and vegetables ripen the Bloomfield experience

The Bloomfield Farmers’ Market takes place every Thursday from July to October between Bloomfield Avenue at State & Liberty Sts. This is a free event and is presented by the Bloomfield Center Alliance.

The Farmers’ Market offers lots of local food, such as homemade preserves, in-season fruit, vegetables, baked goods, and fish. There will also be apple cider to be purchased and attendees will be offered entertainment while they shop. No doubt Bloomfield printing companies will be working with the organizers of the market to aid with both advertising and decorating the market. While everyone who lives in the area is likely to be aware of the Farmers Market, visitors and tourists may be less familiar. A flyer advertising the fair could therefore be distributed to local hotels and community centers to help spread the word. Banner printing services could be made use of to set the boundaries of the market throughout and to let everyone know exactly where it is taking place.

More and more people are starting to realize that it is in their best interest if they purchase locally-grown produce. The food is usually fresher, since it does not have to travel far and does not need to be frozen. Buying locally-grown food helps the local economy and makes sure those farmers stay in business. Lastly, locally-grown food uses fewer resources such as gasoline, which is resourceful both from an economic and environmental perspective. All in all, it is not hard to see why many people consider shopping at a local farmers’ market to be a smart thing to do.
