Chamber of Commerce poise to announce new president
February 28, 2013 by Mark
The Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet is coming up tomorrow, in which the new president and officers will be installed.
This yearly event allows chamber members and non-members to get to know those who will be making decisions that will affect their business lives. The annual banquet also presents several awards to area businesses who are celebrating an important anniversary in increments of five years.
The evening will consist of networking opportunities, dinner, and the awards. Guests will likely have the opportunity to chat one-on-one with the new chamber executive board and to meet some of their fellow businesspersons from the area. While it is primarily a social event, there will likely be time to discuss business and to expand referral networks.
It is very likely that those planning to attend from all over the area, including nearby Bloomfield, will be arranging in advance for business card printing orders. Guests will want to ensure that their contact information is current and that they will have enough cards to exchange with their peers. There will also likely be time for most business owners to talk about their business and practice their ‘elevator speech’. An elevator speech is a short 30-60 second ‘infomercial’ about the business owner and about what types of products and or services a business has to offer to other businesses.
The annual banquet will take place at the Chandelier in Belleville on March 1 from 6:30 am – 10:30 pm. Tickets are $60. For more information, please contact 973-748-2000.
