Relaxed networking sails over to Boathouse

The next Business After Business networking event of the Southern New Jersey Chamber of Commerce will take place at Camden County Boathouse on August 5, beginning at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for chamber members in advance, $35 at the door, and $50 for non-members.

There will be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar served at this meeting, which will be a relaxed and enjoyable networking event on the shores of the Cooper River. Business After Business events attract chamber members and other local business leaders from all over Southern New Jersey, including Berlin. Those who plan to attend will most likely be arranging for business card printing services in advance. They will want to make sure that their cards are in pristine shape and that they have enough to hand out to everyone they meet.

Social networking events are as a rule more relaxed than those that are arranged around a workshop or seminar. While business is discussed, this is usually informal. The point is to let those you meet know all about your business and how you can help them.

It is suggested that, when networking, a businessperson should decide in advance how many people they plan to meet and long they are going to talk with each person, with 10 minutes or shorter being the optimum. That is definitely enough time to give an elevator speech (a 30-60 second blurb about the business and the speaker), to listen to the other person’s ideas, and to exchange business cards.
