POWWOW – Gathering of Nations

From Thursday, April 26th to Saturday, April 28th the Midtown University will be hosting the “Gathering of Nations Powwow” at the UNM Arena, also known as “The Pit”. The Midtown University UNM Arena is located at University Street and Avenida Cesar Chavez on the SW corner. Guests are asked to come out and enjoy the experience of Native American dancers, singing competitions, and drumming events. This year’s event has more than 3,000 participants and will feature the Native Indian Trade Market. The Indian Trade Market has native foods and music, rows of vendors, and unlimited shopping opportunities. There will also be the crowning of “Miss Indian World” during this powwow event. “Miss Indian World” is selected through the presentation of a traditional talent competition, which takes place on Thursday, April 26th at the Hard Rock Hotel in Albuquerque. Tickets for the “Miss Indian World” event are $14 per person. During this festive event, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center will be featuring native dance performances, as well as a native art exhibition and demonstrations.

The Powwow, at Stage 49, and a one day pass to the Traders Market cost $17 per person, but includes in and out privileges. Two day passes costs $34 per person with in and out privileges. General admission tickets will be available at the door. Advanced tickets can be purchased online at the “Gathering of Nations” website.
