Newburyport community asset awards about to shine

Each year in Newburyport, awards are presented to outstanding citizens in the community, those who truly stand out as an asset and role model to others, and those awards are on the way next week.

They cover five separate categories, the first of which is ‘Caring and Concerned Neighbors’. These are people in the neighborhood who exhibit kindheartedness and compassion toward young people, as well those who are consistently there to lend a helping hand.

Another group is ‘Involved in Education’, which draws attention to individuals or associations that engage students in a creative manner are indeed deserving of Newburyport’s recognition.

The awards also seek people with a ‘Positive Outlook’. Organizations that endeavor to present themselves in a positive manner concerning future generations. A young person who sees their own future in a positive light and displays their outlook to others is also eligible for this award nomination.

The ‘Affirmative Family Interaction’ award celebrates families in the community who demonstrate exceptional communication skills, openness, and honesty within the family unit.

Lastly, there will be an accolade for ‘Impartiality and Social Justice’. This award will distinguish a young adult who has demonstrated and established high morals and principles in their day-to-day life. This individual is passionate when it comes to social injustice, and would gladly stand up against all forms of inequality.

The event will take place March 14 at the Newburyport City Hall Auditorium at 6:00 pm. Admission is free, and the prestige of the people likely to be there could represent a good opportunity to bring some digital business cards along.
