Walkers pumped for annual heart walk

Malden residents will be participating in the annual Heart Walk tomorrow, September 15, in Boston.

Walkers from across Massachusetts, including Ting Ting Tan of Malden, will participate with a corporate team of more than 100 walkers from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Tan and her team, along with 10,000 other heart-healthy supporters, are hoping to raise $1.8 million in this annual event all in support of the American Heart Association.

Fundraising initiatives such as the Boston Heart Walk are perfect events for print companies to sharpen their pencils and approach non-profit organizations with special offers for their printing needs, such as race kits, signage, posters, banners, registration sheets, and course maps.

PwC has entered a team in the Boston Heart Walk every year since 2002. Over the last decade, PwC employees, family, and friends have provided more than $300,000 towards the mission of the Heart Association, which is the prevention and ultimate end of all cardiovascular afflictions and disease.
Santa Sasena, Partner at PwC and one of the walkers, said:

“Cardiovascular diseases are the number one killer in the US and many of our staff members, including myself, have a personal connection to the American Heart Association and its powerful mission.”

The Boston Heart Walk is not a race, nor is it competitive in spirit. There are three distances available to walkers – a one-mile, two-mile, or six-mile stroll. The walk will begin on the Charles River Esplanade in Boston, at the DCR Hatch Shell.

The walk will begin at 10:00 am with the official kick-off ceremonies beginning 15 minutes before this. To get more information, or to sponsor a walker, visit the Boston Heart Walk website.
