Best roast beef sandwich to be found in Malden

Steve’s Roast Beef in Malden recently made the Cheap Eats list on Boston Magazine, a list which the magazine publishes every year on the 26 places to eat in Boston that cost $15 or less.
Most likely the restaurant is using banner printing around its restaurant to make this award known throughout the city.
Steve’s Roast Beef sells a roast beef sandwich for $6.05 which was rated as the best of its kind in the area just above the same sandwich at Nick’s Famous Roast Beef in North Beverly.
The magazine sets as its standard the North Shore-style roast beef sandwich which uses a larger onion roll, thinly sliced roast beef, a James River barbecue sauce, mayonnaise and American cheese. It considered Steve’s to be the best sandwich of the sandwiches from the more than 12 eateries it visited as Steve’s uses rare and tender beef that is almost shredded with its sauce placed evenly over the meat on a buttered onion roll which is slightly charred. It found Steve’s to be a very unassuming and unpretentious sub shop.
In addition to this “award winning” sandwich, Steve’s serves a variety of other subs, wraps, paninis and calzones and omelet subs. Steve’s also offers regular and specialty pizzas and a menu just for kids. His sub shop serves the cities of Malden, Melrose and Everett.
