Adelines seek sweet director

The Malden chapter of Sweet Adelines, aka Harborlight Show Chorus, is in search of a new director, and have used the area’s Patch website to promote the vacancy.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, and an affable personality. A familiarity with barbershop-quartet harmony is a bonus. Applicants can put their names forward by email, phone or by calling in any time this month at R.M. Binney Architects at 50 Boston Street in Malden with a print company quality résumé.
The vivacious award-winning a cappella singers include women of all ages and backgrounds who love to sing and have fun doing it. This is not to say that they do not take their music seriously, as they are dedicated to their voices, rehearsals, and competitions.
There are 22 members of the Sweet Adelines chorus, and rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening at the Cliftondale Congregational Church, 50 Essex St. in Saugus, MA. In addition to their focal point, which is making beautiful music, the choral group provides its members with opportunities for to make new friends and learn about costuming, make-up, and choreography.
For several years, Adele R. Penkul has directed the Harborlight Show Chorus. She has an all-encompassing classical education in piano, music theory, and harmony. Penkul is in charge of the music education of the Harbor Show Chorus members as far as vocal production, breath control, articulation, and choreography are concerned.
