Standing ovation for anniversary bash

The 11th anniversary celebration of The Narrows Center for the Arts was a real crowd-pleaser earlier this month.

The theater presented outstanding entertainment by Keb’Mo’, a Grammy-winning blues musician and, Peter Wolfe of the J. Geils Band. As part of the celebration, four local eateries cooked up a special promotion.

Participating Fall River restaurants included Adagio Piano Lounge, the Trio Café and Lounge, Cinderella Restaurant, and Sagres Restaurant.

Concert-goers were treated to a 10% discount on meals and also distributed coupons valid for $2 off future performances at the Narrows Center.

Patrick Norton, executive director of the Narrows Center for the Arts, said:

“With great local cuisine and the great acts we have at the Narrows, the City of Fall River can offer a ‘big city’ experience without the hassle and price of a Providence or Boston.

“For the past 11 years, the Narrows Center has been an economic engine for the City of Fall River. This collaboration will help to keep that going and hopefully even take that to the next level.”

A spokesman for the Fall River Chamber of Commerce applauded the collaboration, which ultimately impacted other businesses in downtown Fall River. Curt Nelson, chairman of the Commerce and Industry Downtown committee, said:

“The Chamber’s Downtown Committee was formed to find ways to increase economic development in the downtown area and in this example, the Chamber was simply a catalyst in being able to bring the Narrows and downtown restaurants together to get people going to the Narrows to stay and eat locally.”

Collaborations of this type are excellent opportunities for print companies to offer their services, perhaps through printing tickets, tent cards, and coupons.
