Rodeo and bike run to raise money for summer camp

A rodeo and bike run will take place August 11 to raise much needed funds for Camp Welch.

A board member of the Boys and Girls Club, Joe Correia wants kids today and the next generation to enjoy summer camp as much as he did as a child. In addition to spending his childhood at the camp, Correia also works there. To support the summer camp, Correia introduced the annual Rodeo and Bike Run.
The motorbikes will all leave B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River during the morning and will head towards Camp Welch which is in Freetown.

According to the Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club, Peter McCarthy the event is spectacular, with around two hundred bikers, food and live bands and all the proceeds going to the summer camp. The funds raised from the Rodeo and Bike Run have paid for essential camp repairs, supplies for the summer months and scholarships for children who would like to attend the camp. All ages can participate in the games, which last all day including ring toss, water balloon throwing and the popular three legged race. Food, refreshments, live music and a DJ will entertain the crowds throughout the day.

The camp grounds will host a bike rodeo, with winners of games receiving a trophy. Although the event is sure to be popular, organisers will possibly have utilized the banner printing services of a local printing company, to raise as much as possible on the day.
