Putting the band together in Dedham
March 31, 2013 by Mark
The Dedham American Legion Band Post #18 has revealed that it is in search of band members, musicians, and a color guard. Membership in the American Legion is not required, nor is an audition. Everyone who loves music, can play an instrument and is age 13 or older is encouraged to join.
The mission of Post #18 is to promote the United States Military and Veteran’s associations, and to uphold patriotism. This is achieved in part by providing Dedham and its surrounding communities with musical performances for parades, concerts, pageants, and other such ceremonies. Furthermore, the Dedham American Legion is committed to furthering the development both musical ability and the personal growth of its members.
The Post provides its members with uniforms, drums, Sousaphones and all necessary instruments. In another direction, anyone who would like to donate their gently used musical instruments is welcome and urged to do so. All donations are most appreciated.
To join, those interested should attend a band rehearsal during April, which take place every Monday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Dedham’s American Legion Post 18, at 155 Eastern Avenue.
The American Legion is a national organization that functions to support military veterans and civic programs throughout America. Veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, and Coast Guards are welcome at Post # 18. There is a banquet hall available for various social events, business meetings and functions, holiday parties, community events, and dedication ceremonies.
The Dedham American Legion Band, Post # 18 was established on October 10, 2012. David Zablatsky is the Band Post’s Clerk, PR Director, and in charge Enrollment.
