Dedham car enthusiast revs up for World of Wheels

March 27, 2012 by

A pristine 1969 Viper Red Dodge Charger carefully restored by Tommy Coyne, resident of Dedham, will be attracting a lot of attention at the Town Fair Tire World of Wheels in Boston, March 30 to April 1. The Dodge Charger first came off the Ford assembly line in 1966. and the car was later made famous by the 1970s television show The Dukes of Hazzard.

The World of Wheels circuit has toured North America for almost four decades. Throughout its 40 year history, catalog printing has captured some of the hundreds of entrants and spectacles seen. Some are a part of the traveling circuit, but many are specially entered by local citizens and are chosen to participate in the show, just as Coyne and his Dodge Charger were selected.

The Town Fair Tire World of Wheels will see custom vehicles, unique hot rods, souped-up trucks and motorcycles, plus appearances by celebrities amongst other crowd-pleasing attractions. Among many celebrities, Billy the Exterminator, from the reality television series of the same name, will be in attendance. This year’s show will also feature the “Transformers III” 2012 Chevy Camaro Bumblebee edition, a 1960s era Mantaray bubbletop car from Roswell Rod, and a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, a 1957 model re-configured and transformed by Chip Foose of California.

Dedham auto fans will be able to see Coyne’s Charger this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the show at The Town Fair Tire World of Wheels at the Seaport World Trade Centre in Boston.
