Spirit of Rodgers & Hammerstein comes to Andover
April 4, 2013 by Mark
The Andover Memorial Library is about to host a celebration of the musical duo of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
The ‘Julie Andrews of Boston’, Ruth Harcovitz, will perform songs from South Pacific, The Sound of Music, The King and I, and Oklahoma! This musical event is suitable for people from the ages of eight to eighty, so it is worth bringing the whole family.
Harcovitz is recognized throughout the United States for her magnificent voice and charming personality. She has performed with opera troupes, as an orchestra soloist, and at upscale resorts, and has just returned from a successful tour in Florida. Here in New England, she is celebrated for her eclectic variety of delightful programs, which are always crowd-pleasers.
Having just returned from a successful tour in Florida, Harcovitz was chosen as first runner-up in a recent Ms. Massachusetts Pageant. She will be crowned as Ms. Connecticut in October and go on to compete in the Atlantic City National Finals.
One of the larger libraries within the region, the Andover Memorial Hall Library offers programs for all ages, as well as videos, downloadable audio books and e-books, Wi-Fi, computers, and color flyer and catalog printing services. Additionally, the library houses over 125,000 audio and video resources, and offers around 200,000 printed documents.
This event will be held on April 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Andover Memorial Hall Library, 2 N Main Street in Andover. There is no charge for admission.
