Children’s Holiday Festival about to jingle through Vernon
November 28, 2012 by James
The Children’s Holiday Festival, to be held at the Vernon Teen Center, enables busy moms and dads to enjoy a morning of running errands and Christmas shopping while the kiddies have a merry morning of making gifts and crafts, fun games, cookie decorating, and much more. This event is for children under the age of 10, although children under four must be accompanied by somebody over 16.
Due to the popularity of this event and the limited space, registration must be done in advance. This holiday festival is being held at the teen center and provides children with a chance to enjoy the music and fun of the season by making a number of projects that they can give to the people they love, as well as enjoying many games and activities. A holiday movie will be shown for the children’s enjoyment, too.
This is a Christmas drive event, designed to collect toys for children who are underprivileged and it is a great way to teach children about sharing and giving all year around – not just during this special time of year. This event is brought to the community by the Park and Recreation people and is a great kick-off to get the holiday cheer going.
An unwrapped toy for needy children in the area is all that is required to gain admission to the Children’s Holiday Festival on Saturday, December 8 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. To register for this event or to find out more, please visit the Vernon Parks and Recreation Department’s website or call their office at 860-870-3520. Also, look out for any flyer or poster printing that may be produced in the days leading up to the event.
