This weekend, two events will be held to support the Spooner House.

On Saturday, February 16, the ‘Valley Has a Heart’ food drive will take place for the 11th year to benefit the Spooner House. The collection will be hosted at three different Stop & Shop stores in Naugatuck Valley, specifically in Shelton, Ansonia, and Seymour from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Those who organized the event hope to collect around $3,000 for food purchases and enough non-perishable food items to last two months.

Sponsors for the event include Dworken, LaMorte, Hillman, and Sterczala in Shelton and Dan Jacobs Porsche Specialists of Oxford.

Another event held to support the Spooner House happens on Sunday, February 17, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The event is hosted by the Mary A. Schmecker Turtle Shell Fund, is entitled ‘In Love and Chocolate’, and is perfect for any chocolate lover.

At $25 per person, visitors can sample chocolates from around Connecticut while enjoying live music, prizes, and champagne. Festivities will be held at the Courtyard by Marriot in Shelton and tickets can still be purchased online at the Turtle Shell Fund website. For those who cannot attend, donations can be made through Spooner House’s website.

Exhibitors currently include Royal Bakery, Crave, Pink Cupcake Shack, Burnt Bakery, Chocolate Pizza Kitchen, Stone Gardens, and Starbucks.

For the Sunday event, the Mary A. Schmecker Turtle Shell Fund may have utilized print companies and banner printing services to advertise the proceedings around the area.
