Restaurant and hotel addition on Bridgeport Avenue

Sound Development, a real estate development business, is preparing to build a restaurant and hotel on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton.

Last year, Best Western disclosed its new brand, GLo, and this will operate the new hotel. According to the Best Western website, the brand sets to break away from the normal hotel look and bring in a more energetic boutique environment.

Sound Development’s Phil Digennaro stated the plan was to build a GLo hotel consisting of 96 rooms with wireless internet and big seats in the lobby. The GLo brand reminds DiGennaro of Starbucks and he enjoys the modern flair. Despite the number of hotels in the area, DiGennaro sees a real need for another because they are often full. He also believes his hotel will stand out from the others on Bridgeport Avenue.

On the same property, DiGennaro also plans to build a sit-down restaurant as long as there is enough parking space for both.
The owners of the building, the Coco family, have spent years attempting to sell it, and the zoning commission rejected the idea of building a Goodwill store on it last year. However, Mayor Mark Lauretti has said that a hotel would not need many city services and would economically benefit the city.

Both hotels and restaurants have a great need for a print company to make menus, directories, various forms, and other essentials.
