Historical Society welcomes yearly garden event

The Westport Historical Society will host its 22nd Annual Hidden Garden Tour in June, featuring over 24 vendors. The event will feature booths selling garden tools, beach apparel, antiques, handmade goods, and, of course, plants.

Five local gardens are included in the tour, located in Westport and Wilton, and the locations of them will be announced the morning of the event. Inventor Alan Winick will sell his ‘tidepieces’, while Kimberly Cole will feature items from Kerry Cassill’s collection, Laguna Beach.

The tour will feature areas with beautiful stonework, gorgeous blooms, a former Christmas tree farm (now taken over by peonies and iris), a classic English garden with a scenic brook, a sculpture garden, and former farmland now swept with orchards and garden beds.

Following the tour, a ‘Toast the Tour’ party will be held at Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens in Westport from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm, featuring food, wine, and music alongside live and silent auctions. The party will occur under a beautiful vine-covered pergola in a beautiful private garden.

For members, the cost of the Hidden Garden tour is $35. For non-members, the event costs $45 in advance and $50 on the day, with shuttle bus tickets available at $15. The tour will take place from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 2nd (those picking up tickets can start to collect them at 9:00 am at the Garden Marketplace, 25 Avery Place). The Toast the Tour party tickets cost $50 per-attendee.

To spread the word to surrounding towns like Shelton, the Westport Historical Society might consider using print companies for flyer printing, poster printing, and business card printing services.
