Soccerpalooza kicks off this week
August 6, 2013 by Mark
Rocky Hill will once again be the host of Soccerpalooza, along with the New England Regional Kick It 3v3 Tour after it merged with the annual event. It will be held at Mill Woods Park in Wethersfield.
Soccerpalooza started out as a tournament for the Hartford area and is presented by the George D. Ritchie Soccer Club. Working with the Connecticut Convention and Sports Bureau, it has grown into a regional tournament, bringing in competitors from all around New England. Around 100 teams are expected to compete, ranging from ages eight to adult. Winners of the event will go on to the national championship held at Disney Word in January.
Soccer is not the only reason to come out to Mill Woods part this weekend; there will also be a barbeque and singer/songwriter Jeff Pitchell will be playing along with The Texas Flood band.
The George D Ritchie Soccer Club says that small businesses will profit from the tournament and visitors will have a chance to see the town. President Stathis Manousos added to Soccerpalooza’s a list of restaurants and other businesses around the Wethersfield area to registration packets
A printing company that sells T-shirts could commemorate Soccerpalooza 2013 with a printed shirt and add the names of the teams to the back. It is very common to see T-shirts of local sporting events in public, and it is unlikely that the Soccerpalooza event, which begins this Friday, August 9, will be any different.
