New London set to seek out attic treasures
April 2, 2014 by Max
The New London County Historical Society has come up with a fun and innovative way to raise funds, by hosting its own version of ‘Antiques Roadshow’.
The Society, in conjunction with the Garde Arts Center, is hosting ‘Priceless?’, a fundraising event at which attendees can bring in items for appraisal.
The event will take place at the Thames Club, located here in New London at 290 State St. A wide variety of items can be evaluated by the 16 local professional appraisers. This event represents an opportunity for New Londoners to find out once and for all if a priceless item handed down through their family is the genuine article.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or online and are $20; included in the price of admission are hors d’oeuvres and one appraisal. Additional appraisals can be obtained at $5 each. A silent auction, as well as a live auction for a weeklong getaway to The Colonies in Williamsburg, Virginia, will occur as well. All money raised will go into the coffers of the New London County Historical Society.
Appraisers will want to check and see if they need to put in another business card printing order before the event. Many attendees will no doubt want to take home their contact information.
The event runs from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Thursday, April 10.
