Main Street to host the Spring Food Stroll again
May 14, 2012 by Mark
Downtown New London, Main Street, will once again be the culinary center of attention this week. For the eighth year, it will be hosting the annual Spring Food Stroll on May 16, 2012. From 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, participants will have the opportunity to sample foods prepared by nearly 50 local eateries, specialty shops, and attractions.
This year, patrons will be able to sample the wares of about two dozen eateries that are located downtown, six of which are recent additions to the area: The Pub, The Commoner, Sweetie’s Bakery & Café, Gaspar’s New American Cuisine, High 5’s, and Little Sister’s Bake Shop. The event will serve as a major form of advertisement for these newer diners and they might want to consider investing in stationery printing to further promote their services, hours, and locations.
There will also be chef instructors representing Johnson & Wales University on the scene to act as judges for the Food Stroll Culinary Excellence Competition. There will be four different categories in which the food will be judged: how the food looks, how the food tastes, the texture of the food, and the originality of the dish.
Those who stroll the street on this evening will have the opportunity to visit more than 20 different shops participating in the event, offering a variety of treats for the occasion. Also, local music artists will be providing free live entertainment.
Food Stroll buttons can be purchased for $25 if bought in advance or $30 on the day of the event.
