Youth theater will benefit from Rubber Chicken Run
August 6, 2012 by Mark
The 2nd Annual Rubber Chicken Run is set for August 16, with proceeds to benefit Oddfellows Playhouse in Middletown, Connecticut. Beginning in the Mercy High School parking lot on 1740 Randolph Road in Middletown, five-person teams and single runners will compete across various age groups. A children’s event is also offered in the form of a shorter half-mile run. The Kids’ Fun Run for children under 13 years old will start promptly at 6:00 pm, and the 5K Cross Country Race starts at 6:30 pm.
Teams of five are allowed to compete in the race with a registration fee of $75, while single runners must pay $25 for registration on the day of the event. Teams cannot register on race day and must submit their forms by this Friday, August 10, to enter. The Kids’ Fun Run costs $5.
Awards for the top three overall finishers will be given, along with the winners of each of the age groups. The top three women’s teams, men’s teams, and teams of combined men and women will receive team awards for placing among the winners. Start Line Race Services will perform race timing, with race scoring based upon the fastest five-person team time.
The Rubber Chicken attracted over 100 runners last year in its initial run and promoters are hopeful that 2012 entry list will be as long. Any flyer printing produced for the event might portray the rubber chicken synonymous with comedy and the OddFellows Playhouse.
Registration forms can be found on the Rubber Chicken Run website, along with additional event information.
